Here are a few examples that I suggest for last post’s IELTS/TOEFL sample vocabulary

 

1. abandon(verb) = to leave somebody/something

She abandoned her husband and went to Europe to study.

We abandoned that house in the middle of desert when I was a child

2. adversely (adv) = in a negative way

Traffic adversely affected the air we breathe

Involving in a romantic relationship adversely impacted her life

3. aggregate(v) = be an amount when added together

Her income aggregated $ 10,000 per month.

Aggregated data helped us in our study to make an estimation

4. cultivation (n)= prepare and use land for growing crops.

His lands have always been under cultivation.

Surface cultivation can help farmers to protect the soil.

In this blog, we are going to review some IELTS/TOEFL vocabulary. I introduce some words and you guys try to make as many sentences as you can. Then, we try to review the words and the way each one will usually go with other words in different situations (=collocation).

Abrupt = 1. Sudden change 2. not talking much in an unfriendly way

Example: We had a mechanical problem in Ramsar and faced an abrupt change of plan.
Example: This old man is always abrupt to people he doesn't know





Abroad = not in your country

Is Sara in Iran? No, she is abroad right now.

Example: I want to go abroad to continue my education.




Acclaim = to praise(=to say that you like something

Many people acclaim Shamlou's poets.

I have always acclaimed his work.
